While based at the ZKM, Center for Art and Media in Karsruhe, Germany
Elmar Trefz created an interactive framework for the Pano Screen. This was an immersive 360 degree cinema theater screen which allows the viewer to be completely immersed in the surrounding screen content.

The interactive framework enables content creators to create film scenes that react to the viewers in the theater and change the content depending on the viewers interactions resulting in turly interactive and immersive cinema.

In the case study on the right we created an ancient Arabic Souk experience for an EXPO Pavillion based on this framework. This interactive film alows the viewer to experience how a visit to an old traditional Arabic market felt like.

The experience has been further enhanced by a physical set up and props inside the Pano Screen theater.
